Speaking of engines, the Superb facelift comes with a 1.8L, TSI petrol engine and the 2.0L, diesel engine in the international markets. However for India, Skoda will be using the 2.0-litre TDI and 2.0-litre TSI powertrains, both developing 190 hp and compliant with BS6 emission norms. Skoda has also introduced a plug-in hybrid powertrain in the international-spec Superb. It uses a 1.4 liter TSI petrol engine coupled with an electric motor to produce 217 hp and 400 Nm of torque. On the inside, the Skoda Superb facelift has a new virtual cockpit instrument cluster, and VW’s latest infotainment system. The infotainment screen has been slightly redesigned and it also has new chrome and other trim designs around the cabin. The new Superb also gets new driver-assistance features like predictive cruise control. These are however unlikely to make it to our market though, given the restrictions in India over the public use of certain radar frequencies. Skoda might showcase the Superb facelift at the 2020 Auto Expo with a market launch in the second quarter of next year. Expect to pay a premium over the current price of the Superb.
