Through reports, Suzuki has hinted that it wants to introduce a new 250cc motorcycle in India, which is believed to be the Intruder 250.
The new quarter-litre motorcycles from Suzuki are seeing decent sales in the market. Also, with the facelift for the ageing Gixxer 155 and SF 155, it has managed to revive the Gixxer brand. Now, the same is going to happen for its cruiser brand.
This new 250cc engine will also make its way on the Suzuki Intruder. The urban cruiser currently uses a 155cc engine that comes on the Gixxer. It is the least powered cruiser in India, right now.
Reports suggest that the Suzuki Intruder 250 can be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. We are not sure of its launch period, but Suzuki has confirmed that it will be next year. Based on its launch period, we expect the changes to be more than a bigger engine onboard.

The new 249cc oil-cooled engine produces 26.5 BHP and 22 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The power figures might be same, but the engine on the Intruder 250 might receive some tuning.
The main question is whether the Suzuki Intruder 250 look better than the 155cc variant? Suzuki has done the same thing with the Gixxer SF, which is now inspired by the SF 250. Probably the Intruder 155 might also receive a revamp.
It is likely to get a revised chassis, which will offer a better laid-back riding posture. The handlebars, footpegs and the seat will also get some revision, to fit in the proper cruiser stance.

The suspension setup will be the same telescopic forks at the front and a rear mono-shock. Instead of a single-ABS with front and rear discs setup, the Intruder 250 might get dual-channel ABS.
Talking about the cruiser’s performance in the market, the sales figures are running very low. In February, it remained unsold, while for the past few months, barely 500 units are sold every month. Intruder will continue to lock horns with Bajaj Avenger. Meanwhile, the Avenger is now available with a 160cc engine too.
In other news, Suzuki has also hinted for a 250cc adventure motorcycle. Provided that the trend of ADVs has recently kicked up, this model also has a possibility of being launched first next year. Suzuki has confirmed that it will launch two new models every year.
