The new Suzuki V-Strom 1050 and 1050XT gets all-new styling and upgarded electronics but the engine remains the same and is now Euro5 compliant.
The 2019 EICMA motorcycle show is seeing a lot of new motorcycles being launched and this one is from Suzuki. The Japanese manufacturer has unveiled the all new V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050XT models in Milan. These two motorcycles are now Suzuki’s flagship adventure tourer motorcycles. The standard Suzuki V-Strom 1050 is a street-focused variant and comes with alloy wheels whereas the V-Strom 1050XT is the off-road biased variant and comes with wire-spoke wheels.
The new 1050s are based on the existing V-Strom 1000 and it still uses the same 1037cc V-twin engine. The engine produces slightly more power than before at 107.4PS but toque has reduced marginally and stands at exactly 100Nm. This engine also gets ride by wire technology now and it is also Euro5 complaint. That means whis model should make it to our shores sometime next year.
Both the V-Stroms are rather striking looking motorcycles with an imposing stance. The new motorcycle comes with a new LED headlight, a short fender beak and a rather tall windscreen. The design is somewhat reminiscent of the old Suzuki DR Big with those beefy tank extensions and flat surfaced body panels. Both the variants of the V-Strom ride on 19-inches wheels at the front and 17-inches wheels at the rear.

The biggest update to the motorcycle has to be the upgrade to the electronic rider aids. Suzuki calls it the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System or SIRS. The suite of electronics include traction control, riding modes and load-dependent ABS. The XT variant gets some additional goodies in the form of cruise control and hill-hold control. All these can be accessed by a fully-digital LCD instrument cluster. The XT variant also gets an adjustable windscreen and seats additionally.

As for cycle parts, the Suzuki V-Strom gets fully-adjustable upside-down front fork from KYB and preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. For braking purposes, it gets radially-mounted Tokico monobloc calipers at the front with twin 310mm discs. Suzuki has not announced the pricing of these new motorcycles. The current Suzuki V-Strom retails in India for Rs 13.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When the new motorcycles arrive next year, they are expected to have a premium of over Rs. 1 lakh, with the XT variant being priced another Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh.
