Toyota Etios And Etios Liva To Be Discontinued Post April 2020

Toyota plans to discontinue the Etios and Etios Liva owing to the costly upcoming BS-6 norms. The Etios was launched in 2010, while the Liva came in 2011.

Toyota Etios was launched back in 2010 and it instantly became popular because of its spacious interiors. It was a sedan which was rugged and carried the trust of Toyota brand, suggesting that you can use it easily for more than 10 years.

However, the growing competition in that price range led to poor demand for the Etios. Later, it started becoming a popular choice for fleet operators and that’s where most of the sales for Etios come from now. While it still remains popular in the commercial space, Toyota has decided to discontinue it from next year.

Anyhow, the Etios and Liva are already at the end of their lifecycle. Both have not received any facelift or major upgrade in the past few years. The Etios family comes with a petrol and a diesel engine, which are also ageing with time passing.

Under the hood, you have a 1.4 Litre diesel engine that produces 69 BHP and 170 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5 Litre DOHC petrol engine puts out 90 BHP and 132 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options included a standard 5-speed manual gearbox.
