Triumph teases all-new Tiger 900 Rally and GT! Unveil on December 3

The all-new Triumph Tiger 900 Rally and GT will be 15PS more powerful than before and will also be more compact and slimmer along with updates to electronic suite as well.

Triumph has released a new teaser video which hints us about the arrival of the new Tiger 900 Rally and GT. Triumph will be unveiling these brand new motorcycles globally on December 3 and they are even expected to follow it with an India launch sometime in mid-2020. The Triumph Tiger 900 Rally is the more off-road focused motorcycle while the Tiger 900 GT is the focused on touring. Both these motorcycles are expected to sit alongside the current Tiger 800 lineup and eventually replace it with more variants.

Earlier this year, there have been some spy images on the internet of the all-new Tiger 900 and from what we have seen in the pictures, the new motorcycle looks much slimmer and compact, yet meaner than the current Tiger 800. The Tiger 800 is one bulky motorcycle which is quite tall and has massive body panels. The new motorcycle gets a completely new and minimalistic bodywork with slimmer headlamps. Even the fuel tank and tail section looks slimmer.

The new motorcycle also gets a new bolt-on subframe. That should make it considerably easier to service and more affordable to replace in the event of a crash. Other updates include a new swingarm and laced wheels which can accommodate tubeless tyres.

The new 900cc engine in the Tiger 900 will carry the same inline 3-cylinder configuration as in the current 800cc models. The current 800cc engine in the Tiger produces 95PS and 79Nm, but given the extra displacement of the new engine, it is expected to produce around 110PS of power. That should bring the Tiger 900 for a better match against the more powerful Ducati Multistrada 950. The engine will also be Euro5 complaint and with that extra power, Triumph is most likely to equip the Tiger 900 models with IMU-based cornering traction control and cornering ABS.

When these motorcycles eventually make their way to India, the Tiger 900 Rally could be priced close to a lakh more than the top-spec Tiger 800 XCa (Rs 15.17 lakh, ex-showroom). Similarly, the Tiger 900 GT is expected to be priced a lakh more than the top-spec, road-biased Tiger 800 XRx that’s priced at Rs 13.39 lakh.  Stay tuned for more updates on these motorcycles.
