What To Expect From Royal Enfield At 2020 Auto Expo?

At the 2020 Auto Expo, Royal Enfield will introduce new iterations of Bullet, Classic and Thunderbird motorcycles along with BS-6 650 Twins and Himalayan.

Despite many automotive companies giving a miss to the 2020 Auto Expo, the attendees are going to showcase some exciting products. Among them is Royal Enfield, which is actually getting a complete makeover.

Royal Enfield at the 2020 Auto Expo, is going to introduce the new generations of Classic 350, Classic 500, Thunderbird 350, Thunderbird 500, Bullet 350 and Bullet 500. All these motorcycles will get major upgrades including mechanical as well as cosmetic.

From April 2020, the BS-6 norms will kick in. So, the remaining modes like 650 Twins and the Himalayan will get their updated BS-6 engines. Now, let’s see what else will it offer at the 2020 Auto Expo:

1. 2020 Royal Enfield Classic Series

The updated Classic series has been spotted testing with many visible changes. The test mule was spotted with accessories including a front screen, saddlebags and a pillion backrest.

Further, the rear sprocket has been shifted to the left and the rear disc to the right. The taillight and the footrests have been completely revised. Another set of spy shots suggested that it would not get a kick-start system.

Importantly, Royal Enfield will put a fuel-injection system on all the models to make it BS-6 compliant. Reports say that the 350cc and 500cc engines might be retuned for better performance.

2. 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird Series

The Thunderbird series will get a new BS-6 engine as well as an updated engine. Meanwhile, Thunderbird X has been spied while testing, as it gets some visual updates.

The Thunderbird X will get a lower-placed seat, a new exhaust muffler and a more sculpted fuel tank. The alloy wheels remain the same, which led us to believe that it the X series indeed. A new swingarm has been spotted, which will improve the ride quality.

3. 2020 Royal Enfield Bullet

The same engine changes that come on the Thunderbird and Classic series will come on the Bullet. That includes the BS-6 compliant and an updated engine. However, in this case, we think RE might keep the design as it is for the perfect retro feel.

4. Royal Enfield Himalayan 650

Post the launch of RE 650 Twins, the manufacturer had confirmed that it will use the new 650cc twin-cylinder engine on different models. For a long time, we speculated the launch of Himalayan 650, which might finally come true.

The engine specs will be the same, but the tuning will be lowered to better low-range performance. The styling is likely to remain the same but can see some additional features like switchable ABS and better headlamps.

5. Royal Enfield Thunderbird 650

Just like the Himalayan, Royal Enfield might use the 650cc engine on the Thunderbird. Currently available in 350cc and 500cc single-cylinder engine options, the addition of a twin-cylinder 650cc engine could bolster its demand.

It might be the most affordable twin-cylinder cruiser in India. Further, we can expect better electronic aids on the 650cc Thunderbird. However, it is being speculated for a long time and as of now, we are not sure of its launch.

6. BS-6 Royal Enfield Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650

The Himalayan and 650 Twins are considerably new motorcycles in the lineup. Both of them have some new-age features, better frames and Fuel Injection system as well. The Himalayan, as well as the 650 Twins, will only get new engines and nothing else. We can see some new colour options added to the Himalayan.
