Here’s All The Updates That’s Coming With The BS-6 TVS Apache RR 310

The BS-6 TVS Apache RR 310 gets a new TFT instrument concole and different modes for the screen but there is a slight drop in torque expected with the update.

We recently reported you with some spy shots of the BS-6 TVS Apache RR 310 with a new TFT color instrument console. Now the motorcycle was spotted again at the Madras Motor Race Track during a commercial shoot. These new images have revealed some more details that is set to come with the BS-6 update of the TVS Apache RR 310. So here’s all the new updates that we know off that are set to come with the new motorcycle.

The BS-6 TVS Apache RR 310 will get a new instrument console

Well, of course there’s the new instrument console which is now a TFT unit as opposed the previous LCD unit. It now comes with better graphics and better readability as well. It also shows much more information and details than before. The current Apache RR 310 already comes with smartphone navigation and turn by turn navigation but the new motorcycle also gets new directional buttons that should make navigating through the menus a whole lot easier. Expect functions like caller ID, lean angle display, and navigation assist to be present in the BS-6 bike.

To comply with the new emission norms, the BS-6 motorcycle might see a drop in slight torque.

The spy images also reveal that the instrument console gets a new ‘Urban’ readout on itself. Its unlikely that the Apache RR 310 will get riding modes because for that, TVS would have to provide the motorcycle with ride by wire system and new ECU mapping which will significantly take up the cost. It could however be possible that TVS has different display layouts for different modes. For instance, the Urban mode could display more information tripl-related information. The Sport or Track mode perhaps displays information such as lap times, lean angles, recorded acceleration, and top speed.

We also expect that the BS-6 Apache RR 310 will see some changes in its output figures from the engine. When TVS updated the Apache RTR 200 to comply with the BS-6 norms, the power figure remained the same but there was a slight drop in torque to make it cleaner. We expect that the RR 310 will also experience a similar drop in torque to comply with the new norms. The RTR 200 saw no drop in real world performance though and we expect the RR 310 to retain its performance as well. For reference, the 312.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected motor produces 34PS at 9700rpm and 27.3Nm at 7700rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch.

As for the underpinnings, the BS-6 motorcycle will remain identical to the current BS-4 motorcycle. The trellis frame remains with cartridge-type inverted front fork and a rear monoshock tuned by KYB. It also gets petal discs on both ends with a radial caliper up front and standard dual-channel ABS with rear-wheel lift-off protection. TVS will however offer the new motorcycle with new TVS tyres as opposed to the Michelin Pilot Street radial rubber that comes on the current motorcycle.

With these updates, the new motorcycle will certainly come at a premium. We expect the TVS Apache RR 310 to cost about Rs. 15,000 more expensive than the current model. The BS4-compliant version currently retails at Rs 2,28,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). As far as the launch timeline is concerned, expect the bike to enter the market in January 2020. Its primary rival is the KTM RC 390 which will also receive its BS-6 update pretty soon.
