Instead of the 401s, Husqvarna brings Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 to India. The Huskies are going to be launched by early next year.

At the IBW 2019, KTM India has officially introduced Husqvarna, a Swedish two-wheeler manufacturer in India. From that, we have the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 for India, slated to be launched early next year.

Earlier, we speculated and expected Husqvarna to bring the bigger Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 to India. Now, the Husqvarna 250 bikes for India are based on the Duke 250, using the same components and same engine.

While both the motorcycles share their components, they are styled differently. The Vitpilen is a modern cafe racer whereas the Svartpilen is a neo-retro scrambler. Vit means White in Swedish and Svart means Black, which is basically the colours of these bikes.

Powering the Huskies is KTM-sourced 248.5cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, that produces 30 BHP and 24 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the gear ratios are the same that you find on Duke 250. At the time of the launch, the engines will be BS-6 compliant.

The Vitpilen and Svartpilen sit on the steel Trellis frame, as on the Duke. The front suspension is handled by 43mm upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the back, both sourced from WP. For braking purposes, both get front and rear disc brakes with a single-channel ABS as standard.

The Svartpilen will offer a relaxed riding posture with a raised single-piece handlebar. Since it is Scrambler, Husqvarna offers off-road tread tyres but with alloy wheels. As for the Vitpilen, it gets low-height clip-on handlebars with radial tires.

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 will be priced between Rs 2 Lakhs to Rs 2.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom) in India. The deliveries are scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2020. Our sources say that unofficial bookings for the Huskies have commenced at KTM probiking dealerships.
