The Mahindra e-KUV100 has been in the works for quite some time now and it is now expected to launch sometime in 2020 with a driving range of 140 km.

Mahindra has been working on quite a few electric vehicles for some time now. Recently, a close-to-production version of the Mahindra e-KUV100 has been spotted testing in Chennai. It could actually be the first production electric vehicle coming from Mahindra in 2020. The e-KUV100 has been in the works for long now.

The e-KUV100 was first showcased by Mahindra at the Auto Expo 2018 and it was even supposed to hit the roads later that year. However, its been almost two years since then and Mahindra still hasn’t brought the e-KUV100 down on the roads. Now that more and more manufacturers are joining the EV race and as infrastructure in the country is gradually improving, we expect the eKUV100 to launch in 2020.

The Mahindra e-KUV100 will be powered by the firms’s all-electric eFalcon powertrain, the specifications for which are yet to be revealed. However, Mahindra claims that the e-KUV100 will boast a travel range of 140km. The range is considerably less than what we have seen in other EVs in our market already but the e-KUV100 will also come with fast charging capabilities and can be charged from 0-80 percent in less than an hour.

The e-KUV100 looks identical to the ICE powered KUV100. It has the exact same design with a 7-slat grille and its SUV silhouette. The only way to tell the e-KUV100 from the standard car are the eKUV100 and eFalcon badging on either sides of the headlamp assembly. Another way to tell the difference is the charging socket located on the right front fender.

It is expected to cost about Rs. 10 lakhs, ex-showroom.

The interior of the eKUV100 is yet to be revealed. That said, we expect it to share its feature list with the standard ICE model. Highlights include a touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, a multi-info display, manual AC as well as remote and central locking. Expected features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD as well as rear parking sensors.
