Harley Davidson has commenced the production of its upcoming most affordable motorcycle. First, it will be launched in India and will come to India by 2021.
As we reported to you earlier that the Harley Davidson is developing a new sub-400cc motorcycle, especially for the Asian markets. The motorcycle will first enter the Chinese market, where it will be produced in partnership with Benelli.
It has tied up with Zhejiang Qianjiang Motorcycle, a Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer. The parent brand is the Geely Group, which also owns Volvo and Benelli Motorcycles. Now, the new Harley Davidson motorcycle has gone into production, as confirmed officially.
Reports say that the new Harley Davidson motorcycle will be based on the Benelli TNT 300 naked motorcycle. It will share the same chassis and other components and both of them will further get a completely new engine.

Harley Davidson has also confirmed about a 338cc engine under development. The TNT 300, as of now, gets a smaller engine 302cc parallel-twin engine. Both of them will get a new engine parallel-twin engine. The suspension, brakes and some other parts will be taken directly from the TNT 300.
Talking about its India launch, HD has confirmed the news, but has not revealed a confirmed period. We expect the motorcycle to make its India debut sometime in 2021, as the Chinese market is going to get it later next year.
Reportedly, Hero Motocorp and Harley Davidson are also in talks of developing a model for the Indian market. The bike would be mostly developed by Harley but can use some localization with the help of Hero Motocorp.

There are chances that this motorcycle might be manufactured at their Haryana plant and then exported to the Chinese market. Since they want to take on the entry-level motorcycle segment in India, the bike has to be priced very competitively.
In the global markets, HD has Street 500 as its entry-level model. Also, seeing its decent sales owing to the Street 750, it is set to take on the might of Royal Enfield in India. Once Harley Davidson was the most popular premium motorcycle brand in India, which it is not now.
