New Royal Enfield Motorcycle In Development; To Be Lighter And Shorter!

Royal Enfield is working towards a new motorcycle that will be lighter and shorter than the Bullet, making it easily accessible to different buyers.

Royal Enfield has major plans for next year as it will finally bring in the new generation of its Bullet, Classic and Thunderbird series. However, it will also be discontinuing the 500cc engine from next year, owing to high conversion costs.

The new Royal Enfield motorcycles will get many mechanical upgrades including changes to the frame and addition of a heavily revised engine. Reports reveal that these changes will make the new models easier to ride.

Not only that, to notch things up, Royal Enfield is working on a new motorcycle, codenamed J1C. This will be the most-affordable RE from next year, catering to a wide range of buyers. RE wants to increase its market share in India owing to the sector slowdown.

Usually, people associate a bulky or heavyweight feeling with the Royal Enfield bikes. The manufacturer is working to remove this feeling from the buyers, making it also easier for women and youngsters to ride RE.

The new Royal Enfield motorcycle will get a shorter seat height than the Bullet with a better ingress/egress. The Bullet weighs around 190 kgs and this motorcycle is expected to shed around 20-odd kilos to make things more exciting

As of now, RE is working on the J1C motorcycle, will be launched in the first quarter of 2020. It will use the 350cc engine only, as the bigger 500cc engine will no longer be available from next year. The 350cc engine will be heavily upgraded and will also get Fuel Injection, for it to clear BS-6 norms.

Followed by that, RE is also going to launch the new generation of Thunderbird, which might take the Meteor name. The new generations of Classic and Bullet will also debut sometime next year.
