Royal Enfield has teased the new BS-6 Himalayan and the updated motorcycle will be launched soon. It will get a BS-6 engine and other new features.

Royal Enfield has started its BS-6 launches with the new Classic 350. Royal Enfield has now released a teaser of the BS-6 Himalayan, which is expected to be launched this month. It was last showcased at the 2019 EICMA, in three new colour options and some minor upgrades.

The BS-6 Royal Enfield Himalayan in India will get the same three new colours. Along with its updated 411cc Fuel Injected engine, it will also get switchable ABS and a hazard switch. Some minor changes to the instrument console will also come.

The hazard switch usually comes on motorcycles that are touring and off-roading friendly. The new colour options include Red/Black, Lake Blue/Black and a Matte Grey option. All these changes will come on the Himalayan.

For complying with the BS-6 norms, Royal Enfield would not have much trouble with the Himalayan. It already comes equipped with fuel injection technology, which makes thing easier. It will continue with the same 411cc air-cooled engine with slight changes in the power figures.

The motor produces 25 BHP and 32 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Comparing it to the other Royal Enfield motorcycles, the Himalayan gets a relatively newer engine matching the modern standards.

The suspension is handled with 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back. For braking, the Himalayan gets front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS as standard fitment.

On the other hand, Royal Enfield will launch the new generations of Thunderbird 350, and Bullet 350 soon. The company will soon discontinue 500cc engines ahead of the BS-6 norms. So, post-April 2020, no Bullet 500, Classic 500 or Thunderbird 500 will be available.
