Honda has launched the BS6 Amaze with both petrol and diesel engines with a hike in price ranging from Rs 9,000 to Rs 51,000. The Amaze remains otherwise unchanged.
With the BS6 emissions deadline approaching in just a couple of months, we are seeing a slew of BS6 launches from several manufacturers. Honda India has now launched the Amaze compact sedan with its BS6 petrol and diesel engines. Here’s the new variant-wise price list of the BS6 Honda Amaze.

Comparing the prices of the BS6 Honda Amaze petrol with that of the BS4 Amaze, you can see that the BS6 Amaze has seen a hike in price by roughly Rs 15,000. depending on the variant. However, for the diesel Amaze, Honda has hikes the price by about Rs 50,000 fro BS4 to BS6 for the base-variant. The top-spec BS6 diesel-automatic Amaze variant, however, costs just Rs 30,000 more than its BS4 counterpart.
Despite the engines now being BS6 complaint, the Amaze hasn’t seen any drop in output from the engines. The 1.2L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine produces the same 90hp and 110Nm of torque in BS6 form. ARAI-rated fuel efficiency figures however have gone down from 19.5kpl to 18.6kpl, when mated to the 5-speed manual, and from 19kpl to 18.3kpl when paired with the CVT automatic.

As for the diesel engine, the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel produces the same 100hp and 200Nm of torque (80hp and 160Nm when paired with the CVT automatic) as before. Honda has added what it calls NSC (NOx Storage Catalyst) and a diesel particulate filter to make this engine BS6 complaint. Just like the petrol engine, the ARAI-rated fuel efficiency figures for the diesel engine also sees a decent drop. The BS6 diesel-MT’s mileage is 2.7kpl lower than the BS4’s 27.4kpl figure; while the BS6 diesel-CVT is 2.8kpl lower than the BS4 version’s 23.8kpl figure.

Other than the BS6 complaine, Honda has not made any other change to the BS6 amaze, be it on the mechanical, cosmetic or features front. The Honda Amaze competes against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Ford Aspire and Tata Tigor. It remains a competent offering in its segment with a smooth CVT gearbox, spacious interiors and even with its hike in price, its position in its segment hasn’t changed all that much.
