Mahindra has confirmed that the electric KUV 100 will be priced under Rs 9 Lakhs, to become the most affordable EV in India.
Mahindra unveiled the electric KUV 100 back at the 2018 Auto Expo. Since then, Mahindra has been testing the EV. Recently, we spotted the E-KUV in a production-ready form and minor changes made to its styling.
Reports reveal that Mahindra has confirmed that it will launch a sub-9 Lakh electric SUV, which will be the electric KUV 100. After Mahindra discontinuing the E20 in India, the E-KUV will become the most affordable electric car.
The electric Mahindra KUV 100 is most likely to use a 40 kW AC induction motor, that will produce around 120 Nm of torque. The exact power figures will be revealed when the EV is launched, that is at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Mahindra will provide standard AC chargers along with the EV, which can be installed at home or offices. KUV will also support fast charging which will charge it up to 80% in about 60 minutes or so. Portable chargers might also be introduced.
The driving range of electric KUV 100 will be comparatively lower. Speculations suggest that it would not be more than 150-200 kms, claimed. Perhaps to clear the range anxiety, Mahindra might later introduce higher range variants with a considerable price hike.
Mahindra has also cleared the doubts regarding the XUV300 EV. Mahindra will mostly launch it towards the end of 2021 and might showcase it in a production-ready form next month, at the Auto Expo.

The XUV300 EV will look slightly different than its ICE counterpart and same goes with the electric KUV 100. With Mahindra introducing two EVs soon, it is rapidly advancing in this space. Maruti Suzuki with the Futuro E and Tata Motors with Nexon EV and Tiago EV will soon fill up the EV space.
