Hyundai i20 Petrol CVT And Diesel Variants Stopped Due To BS6 Norms

Hyundai i20 is no longer available in petrol CVT and diesel engine. Hyundai’s 1.4 Litre diesel engine will be discontinued even on the Venue.

Hyundai had confirmed that it will discontinue its 1.4 Litre four-cylinder diesel engine due to the BS6 norms. This engine powers the i20, Venue and base variants of Creta and Verna. Now, Hyundai has removed the i20 diesel from the market.

All the variants of Hyundai i20 Diesel have reportedly been discontinued across the country. The dealerships have also stopped taking bookings for the car. Along with this, Hyundai has also discontinued the Petrol-CVT variants and the base-spec Era variant.

Hyundai i20 comes in 12 variants out of which, eight variants have been discontinued. The i20 will soon receive a BS6 upgrade and will only be sold in four variants. That will include the Magna, Sportz, Sportz DT and Asta (O).

We are expecting Hyundai to use Seltos’s 1.5 Litre diesel engine on the i20. The same engine will come on new-gen Creta, Verna and Venue. For i20, the engine will be heavily detuned so that the power figures are around 90-95 BHP and around 200-220 Nm of torque.

The new generation Hyundai i20 will debut by June 2020 and not at the Auto Expo. So, Hyundai might upgrade the current i20 with BS6 petrol engine and sell it till the new model arrives. The upcoming i20 has already been spied testing in India.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 will also get Venue’s 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol engine. The power figures will be around 110-115 BHP to keep the mileage in check. Hyundai might even offer a manual gearbox along with the new 7-speed DCT on the turbo i20.

The new i20 will also get features like electric sunroof, cruise control, wireless charging, new alloy wheels, projector headlamps and disc brakes on all four wheels. As again, Hyundai will peg it as the most feature-rich hatchback in the segment.
