The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza facelift will be previewed at the Auto Expo 2020 on February 6 with a new petrol engine and several styling updates.
Maruti Suzuki have announced that they will be unveiling the Vitara Brezza facelift in India on February 6, on the second day of the Auto Expo. The Vitara Brezza facelift features several cosmetic changes both on the inside and the outside but the biggest update is that the new petrol engine in place of the current diesel engine.
The Vitara Brezza facelift will get the BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine that will replace the 1.3-litre diesel powerplant. This K15B petrol engine is also seen doing duty in the Ertiga and the Ciaz in India. The engine is good for producing 105 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic as an option on the higher variants. To keep costs on check, Maruti Suzuki will be offering the Smart-Hybrid fuel saving technology only on the petrol automatic variants but not on the variants equipped with a manual gearbox.
The facelifted Vitara Brezza gets plenty of styling upgrades too. The face seems new with a slightly wider chin – clearly split in two sections. There are new larger fog lamp housing and the turn indicators have now been moved up to the main headlamp cluster. Although the headlamp cluster remains identical in its shape, it gets new chrome inserts on the top and new, larger LED DRLs at the bottom.
The refreshed SUV will also get faux skid plates for its front and rear bumpers, all-black alloy-wheels for mid-spec variants, and diamond-cut alloy wheels for the top-spec ZXI+ trim. The top-spec trim also comes LED fog lamps. At the rear, the tail lamp gets new LED bits and there are talks of the turn indicators being LED units too, giving the SUV quite a premium look.
The Vitara Brezza facelift will also get new exterior paint-shade combination. Inside the cabin, we can expect new upholstery material and minor revisions to the dashboard. The touchscreen infotainment can also be upgraded to offer more features, similar to what comes on its competitors. The new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system will also double as a display for the reverse camera.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol will be priced a little lower than its outgoing diesel counterpart. The price difference wouldn’t be very vast though, thanks to the BS6 upgrade to the 1.5 liter petrol engine. However, the SUV will miss out on excise duty benefits for petrol vehicles with an engine capacity of less than 1.2 litres.

The updated petrol compact SUV will face some stiff competition when it hits showrooms sometime in late February. It will rival the likes of the heavily updated Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Renault HBC compact SUV that will launch later this year.
