Recently, new spy images of an MPV has surfaced on the internet that looks like the Maruti Suzuki XL6 but gets an XL7 badge. We are guessing its a more premium version of the XL6.
Maruti Suzuki introduced the XL6 sometime ago in India and it is essentially a premium version of the Ertiga MPV. Now, there are some fresh spy shots on the internet of an MPV that looks quite similar to the Maruti Suzuki XL6 but carries a badging of XL7. This upcoming Suzuki XL7 will supposedly be launched in the Indonesian market with a seven-seater configuration. This new MPV could also see sales in ASEAN markets in future.
In first glance, the XL7 seen in these spy images look very similar to the XL6 that is already sold in India. The XL7 in these images seems to have everything that the India-spec XL6 gets including the faux-silver inserts on the bumpers, roof rails, and body cladding. However, if you look closely, you will notice that the grille is slightly different and chunkier alloy wheels with a tyre size of at least 16 inches. The XL7 looks a little bit more rugged and crossover-ish than its Indian counterpart.
Inside the cabin, the XL7 is again expected to be pretty identical to the XL6. That means it will have an all-black interior theme but it may not come with a six-seater layout. The XL7 could be a seven-seater MPV, replacing the captain seats on the the second row with a bench seat. Other than that, the rest of the cabin will be pretty identical. Although, Suzuki could be using a different interior color scheme or trim panels on the Indonesian spec-model.

Under the hood, the XL7 could be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine seen in the Indonesian-spec Ertiga MPV. The model is expected to be a front-wheel drive, just like the standard Ertiga. However, in order to add to its rugged nature, Suzuki may increase its ground clearance. We had already reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki will be bringing a more premium MPV than the XL6 to India. Maruti has also confirmed that the new MPV will be priced between Rs 10 Lakhs to Rs 20 Lakhs. This will be a completely new segment for Maruti as its costliest car is up to Rs 13 Lakhs that includes the S-Cross, XL6 and Ciaz. This particular MPV will essentially take on the Toyota Innova Crysta and will be part of the alliance between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. What remains to be seen is whether this MPV in question is the XL7 or not.

This is not the first time that Suzuki is using the XL7 moniker. The company had a Grand Vitara-based seven-seat XL7 SUV a few years ago. The new XL7, however, is essentially a crossover version of the Ertiga MPV. Also, Maruti Suzuki has the XL5 coming up in India, which essentially is a premium version of the humble WagonR. Seems like Maruti Suzuki is trying to create a unique identity with the XL moniker. Whatever it might be, we would love to see an even more premium MPV than the XL6 from Maruti Suzuki to make it to India.
