The BS-6 Hyundai Santro will continue with its 1.1 liter engine with the same power and torque outputs and the AMT gearbox could be offered across all the variants as well.
Its 2020 already and the BS-6 norms would be effective in just three months. Most manufacturers have already geared up to launch their BS-6 vehicles. The latest update has now come Hyundai who will be launching the BS-6 compliant Santro very soon. We now have some details on the BS-6 complaint engine of the Hyundai Santro.
Hyundai will be upgrading the 1.1 liter, four-cylinder petrol engine in the Santro to meet the upcoming BS-6 norms. This engine produces 69hp and 99Nm of torque. Most engines see a mild drop in power and torque output in order to comply with the stricter BS-6 norms but Hyundai seems to have retained the exact power and torque figures even with the BS-6 complaint engine. The BS-6 engine in the Santro will continue to make 69bhp and 99Nm of torque.
The engine in the Santro comes mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox and this configuration is going to continue in the BS-6 Santro as well. However, Hyundai will now most likely offer the automatic gearbox option across all variants of the Santro and not just the Magna and Sportz trims that it is currently offered with, in order to increase the model’s appeal.

There are also talks of Hyundai introducing some minor tweaks to the interiors and exteriors of the BS-6 Santro in order to make it more desirable. The interior dashboard design and the dual-tone theme will however remain more or less the same. The top-spec Asta variant of the Santro comes equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, a reverse camera, a rear wash/wipe, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility, steering-mounted controls and power-adjustable wing mirrors.

While there has been no word on the pricing of the BS-6 complaint Hyundai Santro yet, we expect the prices to increase only marginally across the entire range of the car. In India, the Hyundai Santro competes against the likes of the Tata Tiago (which is due a facelift soon), the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Celerio.
