Renault Kwid Electric Debut At 2020 Auto Expo

Renault is reportedly going to showcase the new Kwid electric at the 2020 Auto Expo, in a production-ready version.

Renault has launched the Kwid electric in the Chinese market and will head out to India too. Reportedly, the EV will debut next month, at the Auto Expo. Most likely, it might come in a production-ready version, identical to the China-spec Kwid EV.

Renault Kwid Electric will a pure electric car based on the regular version. Talking about its exterior styling the front bumper has been received a minor revision and as the upper grille is now for the EV. The headlights are also new and probably LED units.

The alloy wheels are different than that of the regular one. The styling will be the same that we see on the recently facelifted Kwid, with bolder bumpers, new fog lamp positioning and refreshed interiors. Although, we might see a different cabin theme on the EV.

Renault Kwid electric comes with a 33 kWh electric motor and a 26.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Renault has confirmed that the EV will offer a driving range of 250 kms. The battery can be charged from 0-80% in just 50 minutes, with the help of a fast charger. With a standard AC charger, the car will take four hours to reach 100% charge.

Renault will offer the Kwid EV with double charging option, which makes it compatible with domestic as well as public chargers. This will enable the buyers to charge it at the home as well as the public charging stations.

Expect the Kwid EV to be equipped with premium features such as a rearview camera, the new 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Rotary Driving Mode Selector, a fully digital instrument console, Auto AC and much more. The cluster will display information such as distance to empty, remaining battery charge, nearby public charging stations and more advanced telematics.

If launched, it might be among the most-affordable EVs in India. For the competition, it will undercut the prices of the upcoming Maruti WagonR Electric. Expect the Kwid electric to launch by sometime in 2021.
