Renault Triber AMT Spotted Testing for the First Time!

Renault has started testing the Triber AMT which is likely to be launched in Q1 of 2020 and it is expected to be about Rs. 30,000 more expensive than the manual counterpart.

We had already reported you that Renault is working on an AMT version of the Triber. Now, the Renault Triber AMT has been spotted testing on the roads for the first time. The Renault Triber AMT is expected to launch in Q1 of 2020 with a showcase at the Auto Expo 2020. The Triber has already been quite successful and the addition of an AMT gearbox would just give it an extra edge.

The Triber will use the 5-speed Easy-R AMT gearbox that we also see in the Kwid. This gearbox will come mated to the Energy 1.0-litre engine that develops 72bhp of power and 96Nm of torque. This engine will soon be updated to meet the upcoming BS-6 norms and it’s likely the AMT variant will directly be offered with the updated powertrain. Renault revealed the Triber AMT’s fuel efficiency at the official unveiling. It boasts a claimed figure of 20.5kmpl, which is 0.5kmpl more than the manual variant. 

Renault will also introduce a 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine in the Triber soon. Its called the called the HR10 TCE100. This engine already does duty in several Renault models internationally and it produces 100 bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and Renault’s X-tronic CVT unit.

The Renault Triber is a very unique car, the only one of its kind. Its seven-seater sub-4 meter MPV that has been given SUV styling elements. It has all the essential elements to make it a great product for India. The Triber is based on a modified version of the CMF-A platform, the same platform that underpins the Kwid. It also a pretty handsome looking car with very good proportions and comes with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, electric boot release, chunky bumpers, body cladding, smart-looking wheels, functional roof rails and more.

Features onboard include an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual air-con, keyless entry with push-button start, digital dials, rear cooling vents, a multi-info display as well projector headlamps. Safety features include four airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert as well as driver and co-driver seatbelt warning.

The Renault Triber AMT is expected to be about Rs. 30,000 more expensive than its manual counterpart. Prices for the manual variant of the Renault Triber starts from Rs 4.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Triber does not have a direct competitor in our market but going by its pricing, it competes against the likes of hatchbacks like the Ford Freestyle, Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
