The Tata Tiago and Tigor facelift comes with several cosmetic changes, new features, BS6 petrol engines with a hike of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 20,000 in their starting price respectively.
Tata Motors has launched the Tiago and Tigor facelift in India today. The Tata Tiago facelift gets a starting price of Rs. 4.6 lakhs while the Tigor facelift has a starting price of Rs. 5.75 lakhs. Both the models come in five trim levels with two engine-gearbox combinations. The facelifted models of the Tiago and Tigor see a hike in their starting prices by Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively, over the pre-facelift BS4 models.
Both the Tata Tiago and Tigor facelifts follow Tata’s new Impact Design 2.0 design language. The facelifted Tiago and Tigor have a front side inspired by the Altroz’s, with a chrome-lined grille and a raised bonnet. Both, the Tiago and Tigor facelifts, sport redesigned sleeker headlights and a new grille incorporating several Y-shaped elements, while the latter also sports LED DRLs mounted in the front bumper.
The bumpers themselves have been redesigned and are sharper than before with new air dams and new fog lamp housings as well. At the back, the facelifts get a redesigned bumper and tail light inserts. Inside, the tweaks are limited to new fabrics for the seat upholstery and other some minor changes.
Apart from the cosmetic changes, the Tiago and Tigor facelifts get BS6 spec engines. The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine produces 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. With the facelift, Tata has dropped the 1.05 liter diesel engine as they had already announced about discontinuing diesel engines in their small cars. Updating this engine to the BS6 spec would have significantly bumped up the prices and that wouldn’t have helped the business case of these cars.
