The Tata Nexon facelift gets heavily updated styling that borrows a lot from the Nexon EV and it will also get BS-6 versions of its current engines.
Tata Motors recently debut the Nexon EV in India and that gives us a great idea about the styling updates that the upcoming Nexon facelift is set to receive. The Nexon facelift is in its final stages currently and we expect it to launched soon, perhaps with a showcase at the 2020 Auto Expo. There are some fresh spy shots on the internet that reveal the Tata Nexon facelift for the first time in its production guise.
As we already saw with the Nexon EV, the Nexon facelift gets a heavily updated front face. In fact, the maximum amount of changes with the facelift goes on the face of the sub compact SUV. It gets a brand new bumper design with reprofiled fog lamp clusters and a new air dam as well. The new bumper also gets silver skid plates which make it look more SUV-like. The bonnet has also been reprofiled and there’s a new grille which looks a lot like the one on the Harrier. The Nexon facelift also gets new slimmer headlamp units with new DRLs. The face looks a lot smarter now and perhaps not as cute as the pre-facelift model.
In profile, the SUV remains almost identical but it gets newly designed multi-spoke alloy wheels and at the rear, it gets a newly designed bumper. The rest of the tail section remains fairly unchanged. The Nexon facelift will not get blue inserts on its exteriors like the ones seen on the Nexon EV. Aesthetics aside, the revisions also make the compact SUV comply with latest pedestrian protection norms that come into effect in October 2020.

The Tata Nexon facelift will be powered by BS-6 versions of the current 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines. The 1.2 liter turbo-petrol engine produces 110bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque. As for the 1.5 liter turbo-diesel engine, it also produces 110bhp of power but 260 Nm of torque. Both the engines will continue to be offered with the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox options as before.

The Tata Nexon facelift with its new BS-6 engines, styling updates and new features is expected to see a decent hike in price. We are expecting it to be around the Rs. 50,000 mark. The updated Nexon will see competition from the likes of the refreshed Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (due to launch soon) the Ford EcoSport, the Mahindra XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue in the Indian market.
