2020 Auto Expo : Six-Seater MG Hector Plus Unveiled!

The MG Hector Plus gets some cosmetic changes over the standard Hector, captain seats for the second row and a new third row but remains unchanged mechanically.

MG Motors have unveiled the Hector Plus in India at the 2020 Auto Expo. The MG Hector Plus is essentially a 6-seater variant of the standard Hector. It has grown in dimensions and gets some new styling elements as well to differentiate it from the standard Hector. The biggest highlight is however the addition of the third row. Let’s look at it in a little more detail.

First off, the Hector has grown by 40 mm in length to accommodate that extra row of seat on the inside. The Hector Plus gets a new grille which is much sleeker than before. The bumpers have also been revised and the main headlamp cluster has also been changed for a more angular look. The DRLs at the top too have been revised. With these revisions, the Hector Plus looks quite a lot smarter than the standard Hector. At the rear, the tail lamps have been made sleeker and that’s about the only change.

On the inside, the middle bench seat has been substituted with two captain seats for a more premium experience. There has of course been the addition of the third row which can seat two more people. Other than that, there are no changes to the dashboard layout or the features list from the standard Hector.

The Hector remians mechanically unchanged from the standard Hector. That means it will be powered by a 1.5 liter petrol engine, a 1.5 liter petrol-hybird engine and a 2.0 liter diesel engine. The engine specs of the petrol and diesel engine also remain identical to the standard Hector. There are rumors that MG will introduce an in-house developed 2.0 liter diesel engine which will be see some bump in power as well. The transmission options will also remian similar.

MG has just unveiled the Hector Plus here at the Auto Expo today. It is expected to see its market launch sometime around April this year. It is expected to be price about Rs 1-1.5 lakhs over the standard Hector. The Hector has already seen a lot of success in its segment and with this new seven-seater variant, it is sure to find a lot more appeal for itself.
