Bajaj has confirmed the launch of 2020 Dominar 250 in the month of March. It will borrow its engine from the Duke 250 and will get more cost-effective components.
Finally, the rumours about the launch of Bajaj Dominar 250 have come to confirmation. Bajaj is bringing in the more affordable power cruiser next month. Dealership sources confirm that its bookings will commence in a week.
Bajaj Dominar 250, as the name suggests, will be based on the Duke 250. It will run on the same 250cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. The power figures will be slightly lowered to around 27-28 BHP and 24 Nm of peak torque. The motor will come paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Changes between the Dominar 250 and Dominar 400 will be a couple of things. Like, instead of USD telescopic forks on the 400, the former one will use conventional forks. At the back, the monoshock and its setting will be the same.

The width of the tires will be reduced for the Dominar 250. In terms of features, it will continue with the same digital instrument cluster, another small digital readout on the fuel tank, LED headlamps, alloy wheels and dual-channel ABS as standard.
Further, the cast aluminium swingarm will be replaced by box swingarm. Also, smaller disc brakes on both the ends will come on Dominar 250. With all these differences, the prices are expected to be around Rs 1.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
With the launch of Bajaj Dominar 250, the manufacturer will fill the gap between Pulsar NS200 and Dominar 400. Also, those who just want a quarter-litre motorcycle under 1.5 Lakhs can look over here. In comparison, the Duke 250 is priced around Rs 2 Lakhs.

Once launched, the Dominar 250 will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa Forty-Two, Yamaha MT-15, KTM Duke 200 and Mahindra Mojo 300. There are a lot of options at this price, some a lot better too. So, Bajaj needs to put the right price tag to make it a success otherwise, it will turn into an average play like the bigger Dominar.
