The 2020 Hyundai Creta will be available in five trims – E, EX, S, SX and SX(O) -and with five different powertrains, there will be a total of 14 variants.
Hyundai unveiled the next-gen 2020 Creta SUV at the Auto Expo this year. The Creta got a very positive reception at the Auto Expo and soon after, Hyundai also revealed the interiors of the all-new Creta. And now, there are new details that have surfaced online which reveal the complete variant list of the Hyundai Creta.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta will be available in five trim levels – E, EX, S, SX and SX(O). It will also have a total of five different powertrains, thus adding up to 14 variants in total. As we were speculating all this while, the Creta will be sharing its powertrains with the Kia Seltos since Hyundai and Kia fall under the umbrella of the Hyundai Motor Group.
The 1.5 liter petrol engine with 115bhp and 6-speed manual gearbox will be offered on the EX, S, and SX trims. The CVT gearbox with the 1.5 liter petrol engine will only be offered on the top-spec SX and SX(O) variants. That means if you want your Creta to come fully loaded with all the features, you will have to stretch up to for the automatic variant with the naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Then there’s the 1.5 liter diesel engine with 115 bhp which will come mated to the 6-speed manual gearbox. This is the only powertrain to be offered across all the five variants of the Creta. In fact, the base variant of the Creta can only be had with the diesel-MT combination. If you want the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the diesel engine, it has only been reserved for the top two trims.
Lastly, Hyundai will also be offering the 1.4 liter turbo-petrol engine from the Seltos in the Creta. The engine produces 140 bhp and unlike the Seltos which also gets the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox with this engine, the Creta will only get a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox with this engine. This powertrain will only be offered on the higher SX and SX(O) variants.
Here’s a table summarizing all the powertrain options in each of the variants for a better understanding :
Powertrain | E | EX | S | SX | SX(O) |

1.5 Liter Petrol 6-CVT | – | – | – | Yes | Yes |

The new Creta has been completely redesigned from grounds up and its a very radical design. Hyundai has not played it as safe with the design like the previous-gen Creta. The huge cascading grille, the split-LED headlamps, the unique tail lamps and an over all rounded look might not be to everyone’s taste but it surely will have your attention. Hyundai is offering the following color options with the new Creta – Mulberry Red, Galaxy Blue, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Phantom Black, Polar White and Lava Orange, with the last two also getting the option of a contrast black roof.
