2020 New Datsun Redi-Go Spied Testing; Launch Expected By March

2020 Datsun Redi-GO has been spied testing under heavy camouflage, as the entry-level hatchback is set to receive a facelift this year.

Datsun has started testing out the 2020 Redi-GO, as its first spy shots have surfaced. The hatchback received a very minor update in 2018 with a special edition launching. Last year, it received its mandatory safety features and nothing else.

From the fully camouflaged spy shots, we can see that there are subtle changes on the Datsun Redi-GO. Datsun has reshaped the front bumper and there’s new wheel design as well. The front grille, headlamp and tail lamp will undergo some revision as well.

We are expecting more changes inside the cabin like new seat upholstery, refreshed cabin and a new touchscreen infotainment system. Mostly, the 2020 Datsun Redi-GO will just cosmetic upgrades and nothing else.

It will continue with its 1.0 Litre and 0.8 Litre three-cylinder petrol engines. Both the engines are yet to get their BS6 upgrade. The 1.0 Litre engine produces 68 PS and 91 Nm of peak torque. The 800cc engine produces 53 PS and 72 Nm of peak torque.

For the 1.0 Litre engine, you have a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT as transmission options. The smaller engine only gets a 5-speed manual gearbox. BS6 compliant engines will directly come on the facelifted Redi-GO.

Last year, in the Global NCAP Crash Tests, Datsun Redi-GO scored a mere 1 Star. So, to improve that, we are expecting some structural changes onboard. It will continue to use the CMF-A platform, which comes under the Kwid.

We are expecting the new Datsun Redi-GO to be launched by March, just before the BS6 deadline kicks in. It will continue to compete against the likes of Maruti Alto and Renault Kwid. Its earlier prime competitor, Tata Nano, is no longer available.
