The BS6 Hero Super Splendor gets a new disc brake variant, an all-new chassis, a new 5-speed gearbox, increased suspension travel and ground clearance and longer seat, all for just a hike in price by almost Rs 7,000.
Hero has launched the BS6 compliant version of the Super Splendor in two variants. The drum brake variant has been priced at Rs 67,300 while the disc brake variant gets a price of Rs 70,800. Until now, the Hero Super Splendor was only available in a drum brake variant that was priced at Rs 60,700 (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). That means the base price of the BS6 Hero Super Splendor has gone up by almost Rs 7,000.
The BS6 Hero Super Splendor is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that makes 10.73hp at 7,500rpm and 10.6Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Not only does the motorcycle benefit from a fuel injection system, it also now produces more power and torque than before. The numbers have significantly gone up from the older bike’s 9hp at 7,000rpm and 10.35Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.
The engine also now comes mated to a new 5-speed gearbox, unlike the older bike that came with a 4-speed transmission. Apart from that, there are a few other mechanical changes too. The BS6 Hero Super Splendor now gets an all-new chassis and the bike also offers increased suspension travel from before – 15mm more at the front and 7.5mm more at the rear.

The seat is also longer by 45mm and ground clearancehas gone up by 30mm, taking it to an impressive 180mm. With the addition of the disc brake variant, the BS6 Super Splenor now gets a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum brake, and the bike comes equipped with CBS.

Hero will be offering the BS6 Super Splendor with an additional new Metallic Nexus Blue colour, in addition to the Glaze Black, Heavy Grey, and Candy Blazing Red schemes that were already on sale. Considering all these significant updates to the motorcycle, the hike in price by almost Rs 7,000 does not seem all that much. In fact, it makes more sense to shell about Rs 3000 more and go for the disc brake variant. The Super Splendor still remains one of the most value for money products in its segment.
