Jeep hasn’t yet announced the variant-wise price breakup of the BS6 Compass, but the petrol variants see a hike by around Rs 25,000 while diesel models see a hike by Rs. 1.1 lakhs.

Jeep India has updated the entire Compass line-up with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. Although the company hasn’t announced the exact variant-wise price breakup of the Compass, they have said that the price of the petrol variants of the BS6 Jeep Compass have gone up by about Rs 25,000. However, it is the diesel variants of the BS6 Jeep Compass that have taken a major hit with a price hike by about Rs 1.1 lakhs for some variants.

Jeep recently launched a diesel-automatic variant of the Compass and while that was already BS6 complaint, it is the rest of the lineup that has now been updated to the stricter emission norms. The Jeep Compass diesel-automatic comes with a 2.0 liter turbo-diesel unit while the automatic gearbox is a 9-speed unit. Now, the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed manual, the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with the 6-speed manual have been made BS6 compliant.

Jeep claims that neither the petrol nor the diesel engine has seen any change in terms of specifications or configurations. That means the 2.0 liter turbocharged Multijet diesel engine continues to produces 173 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. As for the petrol engine, it also continues to produce 160 bhp and 250 Nm of torque as before.

However, in order to be BS6 complaint, both the engines have gone through modifications and like in most cases, it is expected that there will be some drop in the fuel economy. Jeep hasn’t said anything about the fuel economy of these BS6 engines but we will have to wait and find out. Meanwhile, the ARAI rated fuel economy figures for the BS4 spec engines are as follows – the petrol-MT is rated at 14.3kpl, the petrol-AT at 14.1kpl, the diesel-MT 4×2 at 17.1kpl figure, and the diesel-MT 4×4 at 16.3kpl.

The BS6 update is not the only change with the Compass. Jeep is now offering an engine start/stop button across the entire range of the Compass as standard. The automatic variants also see the addition of cruise control as standard. Other than the upgrade to BS6 norms and the addition of two new features, the Jeep Compass hasn’t changed all that much. We also wait while Jeep announces the detailed variant-wise price breakup of the BS6 Compass.
