Here’s All You Need to Know About Six-/Seven-Seater MG Hector Plus

The MG Hector Plus comes with new cosmetic changes, is slightly longer and comes with an additional row of seats to be a six-/seven-seater SUV. It remains mechanically unchanged otherwise.

The MG Hector has already taken the market by a hit and to further build on the success of the Hector, MG Motors previewed the Hector Plus at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Hector Plus, as you can already guess by the name, gets an additional third row of seats. However, that’s not the only differentiating factor of the Hector Plus over its sibling. Let’s look at the MG Hector Plus in a little more detail to see what’s it all about.

How much larger is it than the regular Hector?

The Hector Plus has grown 40mm in length over the regular Hector. It has however not grown in any other way. It has the same wheelbase, width and height as the regular Hector. The Hector Plus measures 4,695mm in length, 1,760mm in height and 1,835mm width. The wheelbase also remains identical at 2,750mm. This increase in length can be attributed to the reworked rear bumper.

How different does it look?

The Hector Plus gets a new grille which is much sleeker than before. The bumpers have also been revised and the main headlamp cluster has also been changed for a more angular look. The DRLs at the top too have been revised. With these revisions, the Hector Plus looks quite a lot smarter than the standard Hector. At the rear, the tail lamps have been made sleeker with a new rear bumper and new dual-exit exhaust design. The LED light bar from the Hector that is positioned on the tailgate has been removed. The extra 40mm length over the 5-seat Hector is evident when viewed from the side, as the rear overhang is larger.

What about the interiors?

On the inside, the middle bench seat has been substituted with two captain seats for a more premium experience. There has of course been the addition of the third row which can seat two more people, thus making its a six-seater. The Hector Plus can also be had as a seven-seater with a bench seat in the middle row. Apart from this, the dashboard remains fairly identical to the the standard Hector and you can expect an updated software for the 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system and a new dual-tone dashboard layout. The top-spec variant will also feature a panoramic roof and MG’s in-car connectivity suite, just like the standard Hector.

The most important news is however the third row of seats.
