The mysterious Hyundai Prophecy concept is an all-electric car showcasing the next evolution of the brand’s design language

Hyundai Prophecy teaser

Hyundai will reveal a brand new all-electric concept car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The concept, named ‘Prophecy’, showcases the next level of the Korean brand’s latest design language which was first seen on the Le Fil Rouge concept back in 2018.

While the teaser image only shows the rear of the concept, we can clearly see a curved light-bar stretching across the rear windscreen while a large lower pixel light display incorporates the thick vertical taillights. A steeply raked roofline and large flared wheel arches also suggest a sporty look for the all-electric machine.

The design language shown on the Prophecy could inspire future production EVs as Hyundai is keen to expand upon its current range of Kona and Ioniq models. Compared to the Concept 45, Hyundai’s previous electric concept, the Prophecy has a more futuristic and bold design approach rather than a restrained and retro look.

Head of Hyundai Global Design Centre, SangYup Lee, said; “Prophecy” does not follow trends. It accentuates timeless beauty that will stand the test of time. Its iconic design stands to expand Hyundai’s design spectrum toward even broader horizons.”

The Prophecy won’t be the only model on the Hyundai stand at Geneva, as the third-generation i20 supermini and heavily-facelifted i30 hatchback are also set to make their debuts.

The Hyundai Prophecy concept follows on from the news that Hyundai has teamed up with American firm Canoo to develop a scalable EV platform for use on its future electric cars and will be exhibiting their electrification strategy, dubbed, 'Real Progress is in the Air’ at Geneva.
