The Hyundai Verna facelift comes with tons of cosmetic changes on the inside and outside along with BS6 compliant engines. Its launch will nearly coincide with the launch of the Honda City as well.
We have already reported to you over the past few weeks about the coming of the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift. Now, according to a new report, the Hyundai Verna facelift will be launching in India on March 26. That means Hyundai will be launching the Verna facelift in India just about the same time when Honda will be launching the next-gen City in India.
Some time ago Hyundai revealed the Verna facelift for the Russian market. The Verna facelift for the Russian market turned out to be quite different from the China-spec Verna that was revealed last year. The face of the Solaris (that is what the Verna is called in Russia) is completely different from the Chinese Verna with a new headlamp design, a new front bumper with gloss black grille and a wide air dam sitting below it.
The bumpers also get new triangular fog lamp inserts, much like the Aura and that is even expected to feature on the next-gen i20. Overall, the Solaris appears more youthful in design than its Chinese counterpart which comes with a lot of flashy chrome elements. The side profile of both the cars remain the same but the Solaris gets different alloy wheel designs. At the rear, the story is again very different with different bumpers and tail lamp design which are much more sober than the China-spec model.

It was previously speculated that it will be the China-spec Verna facelift that will be brought to India. With the unveil of the Russia-spec model, we expect it will be the Russian version that will make it to Indian shores as historically, the Solaris sedan for Russia has essentially been the rebadged Verna from India, but in a left-hand-drive layout. For India, the Hyundai Verna is expected to get some more features and a bit more chrome elements, at least on the top-spec model. There are talks of a fully digital instrument cluster too; this unit will be offered on the new i20 hatchback and most likely on the second-gen Creta as well.

The Hyundai Verna facelift will be powered by a range of BS6-compliant, 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engine options mated to either manual or automatic gearboxes. While the 1.5 diesel will come with a 6-speed torque converter gearbox, the 1.5 petrol will get a CVT as an option. The Hyundai Verna facelift will compete with the next-gen Honda City that’s also slated for its India launch pretty soon. It will also rival the likes of the updated BS6-compliant Vento, Rapid, Ciaz and Yaris.
