Mahindra has launched India’s most affordable EV, the KUV 100 EV at the Auto Expo 2020. It is priced at Rs 8.25 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
After showcasing it at the Expo 2018, Mahindra has now launched the KUV 100 EV. The production-ready version has been revealed at the Auto Expo 2020. Electric KUV is now the most affordable electric vehicle in India.
Mahindra KUV 100 EV is priced at Rs 8.25 Lakhs (ex-showroom), all-inclusive of FAME-II benefits for electric vehicles. More details about its availability and charging solutions will soon be revealed.
KUV 100 EV gets a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of 150 kms. The electric motor produces 40 kW (53 BHP) and 120 Nm of peak torque. The range denotes that it is purely meant for the in-city commute.
Talking about the styling, it is identical to the KUV 100 NXT that we have. Changes are made to the front grille and alloy wheels. The headlamp styling and overall silhouette of the EV remain the same as of the KUV.
Mahindra is offering the KUV 100 EV with standard AC chargers and the option of fast charging as well. The SUV can be charged up to 80% in just 55 minutes. The features onboard will be the same as that of the KUV 100 NXT.
It will come with a fully digital speedometer, a touchscreen infotainment system, Auto AC, electric ORVMs and many other features. Safety features will include front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with a rearview camera and more. EV specific and other features will be revealed shortly.
At this price, it comes in cheaper than the Tigor EV, which was the most affordable EV to date. The E-KUV 100 enters the electric SUV space, where there are three models already present. Tata recently launched the Nexon EV, MG came with ZS EV and Hyundai with Kona.
