Bentley has confirmed that it will reveal a new car ‘offered for purchase only to a very few’ at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, which will be positioned as a new halo model for the brand as a whole.
The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar has been confirmed as the new model’s name, while it’s also been teased as being a car with a design inspired closely by the EXP 100 GT concept revealed last summer.
While that was a car created merely to celebrate the brand’s centenary using an all-electric drivetrain, the Bacalar will be a production car offered out to Bentley’s most prospective customers, and is almost certain to stick with a twelve-cylinder engine plucked from elsewhere in the Bentley line-up.
Bentley has also spoken of the Bacalar representing ‘Grand Touring at its most exhilarating,’ so the final car will retain the GT shape of the EXP 100 GT.
As such, it’s not impossible to imagine the Bacalar being a Mulliner coachbuilt variant of the latest Continental GT. A teaser video issued by Bentley makes it difficult to confirm this though, only teasing the car’s dramatic rear end, while the sole teaser image is of a diamond cut wheel.
