Volvo off-spin Polestar is getting ready to reveal its third vehicle. Named Precept, it’s a new concept car that will be revealed next week, on 25 February, before heading to next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
For now, Polestar is keeping its cards very close to its chest. A teaser image for the car has been issued, but it’s impossible to determine what the vehicle could be from this top-down position.
One thing we can pick out are the headlights and taillights though, which both appear to be very similar in shape to what you’ll find on the Tesla Model 3-rivalling Polestar 2. As such, the Precept may well shape up as a highly production-feasible concept vehicle, rather than a distant-future show car.
In a newsletter, the brand says that the Precept “shows the direction that Polestar is heading in.” As such, it’ll likely be fully electric rather than a plug-in hybrid like the brand-launching Polestar 1.
It’s a car that “shapes the future of Polestar’s look and feel,” so like the Polestar 2, it will be used to continue the brand’s evolution away from Volvo design cues towards establishing a true identity and design language separate from Polestar’s parent company.
While we won’t find out what segment the vehicle sits in until it is revealed, Polestar has yet to introduce an electric SUV. That’s something many rivals, including parent brand Volvo with the XC40 Electric, have already done.
