Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the new Taigun SUV, ahead of the 2020 Auto Expo. It will rival the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, priced from Rs 10 Lakhs.
Volkswagen has finally unveiled its upcoming mid-size SUV, under the name of Taigun. This begins the Volkswagen 2.0 Project in India, where the company is going to gradually convert itself to an SUV-focused brand.
Volkswagen has not revealed further details about the Taigun SUV now. However, we will get to know about it more on 5th February, at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is one of the three SUVs that VW is going to launch this year.
Volkswagen Taigun is inspired by the latest design language. The SUV follows a boxy shape with a long and raised bonnet line, sleek LED headlamps and unique alloy wheels. On the rear, there are LED taillights joined by a strip that doubles up as the brake light. You can also spot the new VW logo.

Volkswagen Taigun will only come with a petrol engine. It will use the 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol engine that will soon be shown at the 2020 Auto Expo. The motor will produce around 115 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque, paired to the VW’s famous DSG gearbox and a 6-speed MT.
The second petrol engine on offer will be a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI engine. This motor will produce around 130 BHP and will be available with a 6-speed MT and probably, the same DSG gearbox. Also, there are chances of it getting factory-fitted CNG because of the absence of diesel engines.
It gets a 10.25-inch fully digital speedometer besides a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Also, it is longer than the China-spec T-Cross, sitting on a long 2651mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 205mm. Although, it looks similar to the T-Cross.
