Royal Enfield is going to open the sale of Classic 500 Tribute Black today, at 2 PM. These are the last few units of the legendary cruiser left in the market.
Royal Enfield is going to discontinue the 500cc engine from the Classic, Thunderbird and Bullet series. All these three engines have been in the market for a long time. Despite not generating enough sales from the past few years, still they have a special place with an enthusiast.
For that, Royal Enfield has decided to sell the Classic 500 Tribute Black limited edition version. The sale of the motorcycle will commence today at 2 PM till 5 PM only. There are limited stocks available and the motorcycle will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis.
You can book the motorcycle online at RE’s official website, by paying some token amount. The delivery status of the motorcycle will be available soon after the bookings are stopped. Royal Enfield Classic 500 Tribute Black will be handcrafted at their Tamil Nadu Plant. It will get customized Royal Enfield stripes on the fuel tank along with its unique serial number and “End Of Build” badge. The fuel tank will also get a dual-tone paint job.
The 500cc single-cylinder engine with Twin Spark Ignition produces 27 PS and 41.3 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox with longer gear ratios. From years, this engine has remained unchanged.
The primary reasons for RE to discontinue the 500cc engine is because of its near pricing to the 650 Twins and high costs to make it a BS6 compliant engine. The Thunderbird 500X was going up to Rs 2.5 Lakhs on-road, just around 30K-40K cheaper than the Interceptor.

As for the 350cc engine, Royal Enfield has completely revamped it. The BS6 Classic 350 is already out for sale and soon, Bullet and Thunderbird will also get the updated engine. Along with that, the Classic 350 has received cosmetic upgrades, some mechanical changes and new features.
