The upcoming Skoda Karoq has been spotted testing under heavy camouflage for the first time after its unveiling at the Auto Expo 2020.
At the Volkswagen and Skoda Group Night, the latter unveiled the Vision SUV, Kodiaq TSI and Karoq for the Indian market. Shortly after that, we saw all of them at the Auto Expo 2020. The manufacturer is going to launch it in the coming months.
Now, a spy video of the Skoda Karoq being tested on the roads of Mumbai has come up. The SUV was already unveiled in full flesh but looks like Skoda is still keeping it under covers. It will enter the Indian market through the CBU route and hence will be costlier than its actual rivals.
Karoq will be an all-petrol SUV, packed with a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI petrol engine. The motor is capable of producing 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. A 7-speed DSG gearbox will come as standard, without any option of a manual gearbox.

The SUV is 4.3 metres long similar to the dimensions of Volkswagen T-Roc. Further, it can achieve a top speed of up to 202 km/hr. Karoq can easily sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in just under 9 seconds. The power figures are equivalent to SUVs found in a segment above.
Karoq will come packed with features such as Panoramic electric sunroof, the famous Virtual Cockpit, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, full LED headlamps, dual-tone diamond cut alloys and Stone Beige Leather seats.
Safety features onboard will include nine airbags, rear parking camera, ABS with EBD, Parktronic system(Advanced Parking Aid), adaptive cruise control, iBuzz, electronic stability control (ESC) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. It is likely to come in two variants only, and all of the above-mentioned features will come on the top-spec one.
Skoda Karoq comes in as a perfect competitor for the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks. Its dimensions are very similar to what found on the above-mentioned SUVs. However, it will compete with the next segment models like MG Hector, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass.

It is likely to come at an asking price of around Rs 19 to 21 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The prices are higher because Skoda is importing the SUV. As per the government regulations, manufacturers can import up to 2,500 units only in a year. If the reaction of Indian customers is good, Skoda might think of manufacturing it in India. This will further reduce prices.
