Here Are Some Fresh Details About The India-Spec Honda City!

Honda has now revealed the dimensions and engine details of the India-spec City. It will be unveiled on March 16 and will be launched in the market in April.

Honda will be unveiling the all-new City in India on March 16. Ahead of its unveil, Honda has revealed some key details about the India-spec City. As we had reported earlier, the City for India will come with certain country-specific changes which includes interior bits and features. Now we have come to know that Honda has also made some changes to the dimensions of the City, keeping the Indian customers in mind.

As you can see from the table above, the new City measures 4,549mm in length, 1,748mm in width, 1,489mm in height, and has a 2,600mm long wheelbase. The new Honda City is thus longer and wider than the current-gen City sold in India but it still has the same wheelbase as the outgoing model.

Interestingly, the India-spec City has a wheelbase that is 11mm longer than the one that is sold in Thailand. Honda has particularly stretched the wheelbase for India to offer more legroom in the second row. The new Honda City will also have a higher ground clearance than the outgoing model to better suit our roads, although its overall height will be lesser than the outgoing model. The new car will also be heavier than the outgoing model.

Under the hood, the next-gen Honda City will be powered by a BS6-compliant, 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 115bhp. This engine is expected to come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox. There will also be a BS6-compliant, 1.5L diesel engine with 100bhp that recently made its debut on the Amaze compact sedan. In the future, Honda is also expected to offer the 1.5L petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology.

There will be three petrol-manual variants of the City – V, VX and ZX and the top-spec ZX trim will come equipped with features such as full LED lighting, a sunroof and 16-inch alloy wheels. We will have more details on the new City closer to its unveil in a few days. The fifth-gen City will see its market launch in India in April this year, and when launched, it will rival the upcoming Hyundai Verna facelift, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Toyota Yaris and the new 1.0 TSI-equipped Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
