Royal Enfield Bringing A Brand New Motorcycle Next Month

New reports confirm that Royal Enfield is indeed planning to launch a new motorcycle next month. Internally, it is known as or codenamed as JID.

From the past few months, we have been spotting a new Royal Enfield motorcycle being tested extensively. From the looks, we thought that it might be a replacement for Thunderbird because the spied motorcycle looks very identical to it.

Now, reports confirm that Royal Enfield has codenamed the motorcycle as JID and plans to launch it next month. As of now, there are no confirmation or reports of what type of motorcycle are we seeing next month and what its name might be.

BS-6-Royal-Enfield-Himalayan

Recently, we got to know that RE filed some trademark applications. The names included Meteor, Sherpa, Flying Flea, Roadster and Hunter. There are no reports of what these names will further develop into, but the JID is expected to carry one of these names.

There are chances that Royal Enfield would finally develop low capacity motorcycles. The upcoming motorcycle is rumoured to get a 250cc single-cylinder air-cooled mill. Most likely, going by the spy shots, it will be a 250cc cruiser type motorcycle. The name might be Meteor.

However, going by another set of spy shots, we also have a scaled-down version of the Himalayan spied. Royal Enfield Himalayan 250 could be positioned as a more affordable choice and by reducing its weight, it becomes a beginner’s learning machine.

A 250cc engine in the kitty of RE would help increase its diminishing sales. In the wake of BS6 norms and to keep its manufacturing costs low, it discontinued the 500cc motorcycles. Bringing in a smaller engine will make the RE bikes more affordable.

It would get smaller and thinner tyres with slight changes to the swingarm. The features and all would be the same as that of the current Himalayan. However, launching a more affordable off-road motorcycle would widen its group of buyers.

Royal Enfield is currently equipped in launching its BS6 compliant motorcycles. The Himalayan, Classic 350 and 650 Twins are already out with new engines. As per our sources, BS6 Bullet 350 has already started reaching dealerships. As of now, there is no clue on when the BS6 Thunderbird 350 will be launched. Stay Tuned!
