After a couple of months of delay, Triumph has finally launched the 2020 Street Triple RS in India. The 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS is now available for a price of Rs 11.13 lakh, ex-showroom, India. Incidentally, the price of the 2020 Street Triple RS is identical to the BS4-spec motorcycle. That’s quite a delight because you get a much improved version of an already phenomenal motorcycle and you do not have to pay any premium either. For the 2020 Street Triple RS, Triumph has kept the best bits of the previous motorcycle intact but improved where it could have done better.
The 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS gets some cosmetic changes but the more interesting upgrades are in the mechanical components of the motorcycle. The RS is the top of the line Street Triple and it has been adorned by enthusiasts for its performance dynamics.
Triumph has retained the original ‘bug-face’ but the headlamp units has been sculpted to be sharper, giving it a more angrier look. The LED DRLs have also been revised and now sit above the headlamps. The rest of the design remains pretty similar except for some minor revisions to the side panels, tail section and the fly screen. Triumph has also retained the bit where you can swap the pillion seat for a seat cowl for an even sportier look.
The all-digital full-colour TFT instrument cluster has also been updated and now features smartphone integration. This will essentially allow for functions like turn-by-turn navigation, music and notifications. The instrument cluster also allows connectivity to action cameras like GoPros which will be really appreciated by a lot of riders.
The powertrain of the 2020 Street Triple RS sees the biggest update with BS6 compliance. Triumph has also tweaked the power and torque curves of the motorcycle. The power output remains the same though at 123PS but torque is up by 2Nm at 79Nm. Triumph says that the performance is far more accessible now. Peak power is now produced at 11,750rpm (as opposed to 11,700rpm earlier), but peak torque is now available from 9,350rpm now, as opposed to 10,800rpm, which is a great thing.

Triumph claims that the alterations to the engine improves mid-range performance by 9%. Just a fun fact – this is the same engine that powers all Moto2 motorcycles currently but has been tuned for the road use. The electronic aids remain unchanged from before. You get your regular riding modes of Road, Rain, Sport, Track as before. There’s also an individual mode which lets you customize the motorcycle’s performance as per your preference. It also comes with traction control but the ABS is now adjustable which means you can control the level of intrusion.

Another major update has been a bi-directional quick shifter which allows for both clutchless upshifts and downshifts. The previous model only got a quickshifter that only allowed clutchless upshifts. The motorcycle continues with Brembo M50 radially mounted calipers and fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension as before but the 2020 Street Triple RS gets stickier Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres. Once launched in India, the 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS will rival the likes of the KTM Duke 790, Yamaha MT-09 and the Ducati Monster 821.
