5 Ford Cars That We Grew Up Watching And Would Love To See Again

Here are the top 5 old Ford cars that were very popular in the 90’s and 2000s but were gradually discontinued due to the growing competition.

Growing up in the 90’s and early 2000’s era, we have seen a lot of fancy and stylish cars. Most of them have been discontinued long back and is now considered a vintage. Finding them is the toughest job and then comes the restoration or maintenance.

There were many brands like Opel, Daewoo, Ford, Tata and Hyundai who had some amazing cars in their lineup. While Opel and Daewoo slowly disappeared from the scene, the other three are still in the play. We all must remember Ford and its sexy looking sedans.

5 Old Ford Cars That We Would Love To See Again

Ford Escort

Escort was the first Ford car in India that was jointly developed with Mahindra. The car was launched in 1995 and was well ahead of its time, in terms of features. It came with powered ORVMs, power steering, Air condition, inbuilt music system and front power windows. It was only with a petrol and a diesel engine, priced at Rs 9 Lakhs, back then.

Ford Mondeo

Mondeo was launched in the early 2000s as Ford’s ticket to the luxury car market. Priced around Rs 15 Lakhs at that time, it did not perform too well. Mondeo was an enthusiast’s car, packed with a 2.0 Litre petrol engine that pumped out 142 BHP. It came with ABS, tilt and telescopic steering, inbuilt music system, alloy wheels and rear disc brakes.

Ford Fiesta 1.6S

I am sure no automobile enthusiast can forget this. Wrapped in a chic sky blue colour, with sporty alloys and a body-coloured rear spoiler, Fiesta 1.6S is still revered and wanted by many petrol heads. It was sold in limited numbers and is now a rare find. Fiesta 1.6 got a body kit, reworked suspension but the same 1.6 Litre 100 BHP engine.

Ford Fusion

Fusion was the first ever crossover or you might say a sub-4-metre SUV in India. It had a very European-type design and was highly practical. It was basically for buyers who had the money for a large and comfortable hatchback and did not want to go for an SUV. Ford launched the Fusion back in 2005 at an affordable price of Rs 5.34 Lakhs.

Ford Ikon

With Ikon, Ford created a benchmark in the sedan class. It was highly practical, very comfortable, loaded with features and fun to drive. Let’s not comment on its fuel efficiency, though. Even Ikon is a rare find now but back in in 2005-2010, it was one of the best selling cars. All Ford cars are on my “to-buy and restore” list, but Ikon is on the top.
