BS6 compliant Hyundai Verna is more fuel-efficient than the BS4 version with a new petrol, diesel and a turbo-petrol engine.
Hyundai launched the Verna facelift in India about a month back, amidst the lockdown. It is now priced from Rs 9.30 Lakhs up to Rs 15.09 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The facelift includes new BS6 engines, refreshed styling and more features.
The official mileage figures of Hyundai Verna have been revealed. Turns out the new Verna is more fuel-efficient than its BS4 engines. It comes with 5 configurations now, including 3 engines and two transmission options.
Engine | New Verna | Old Verna |
Petrol Manual | 17.7 kmpl | 17.4 kmpl |
Petrol CVT | 18.45 kmpl | 15.9 kmpl |

As you can see, the difference is very less, but not in the case of petrol CVT. Earlier, the engine came with a 6-speed AT and now it gets a CVT. New Verna Petrol CVT offers 18.45 kmpl, which is nearly 2.5 kmpl more than the pre-facelift version.
In the case of petrol manual, diesel manual and diesel AT, the difference is just 0.3 kmpl. The turbo petrol variant seems very fuel efficient offering an ARAI-claimed mileage of 19.2 kmpl. Earlier, the Verna only came with two engine options.
The new Verna gets 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engines replacing the earlier 1.6 Litre engines. The power figures have reduced by a considerable figure for both, petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine now produces 115 PS instead of 125 PS from the pre-facelift Verna. The diesel engine puts out 115 PS instead of 128 PS, nearly 13 PS lower.
The third engine is a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine from the Venue. The engine produces 120 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed DCT as standard. The same engine also comes on Grand i10 Nios and Aura but in a detuned state.
