Ford Freestyle is a CUV or a compact utility vehicle. Based on the Figo, it is more butch looking and gets some mechanical upgrades as well.
Ford Freestyle is basically a spinoff of the Figo with a completely different look. It was launched in 2018 as a slightly more premium version of the Figo. It starts at Rs 5.89 Lakhs up to Rs 8.19 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
Freestyle gets a 1.2 Litre petrol and a 1.5 Litre diesel engine, producing 95 BHP and 120 Nm and 99 BHP and 215 Nm, respectively. There’s a 5-speed manual gearbox offered as standard fitment. It is not getting an automatic gearbox anytime soon.
So, the Freestyle gets a couple of more tweaks done for better handling and comfort. It gets Traction Control System, Slightly Taller suspension setup, hill launch assist and Electronic Stability Programme. That helps Freestyle in being safer than the Figo.

Here’s a video that shows Ford Freestyle winning the stability test like a cakewalk. This video was shot during the NCAP crash tests and safety activities that were done in India. A couple of cars were used to show how the safety features act and are more beneficial. One of them was the Freestyle.
Video that is shot by NDTV Prime shows how the ESC or Electronic Stability Control of Freestyle works. When ESC is switched off, you can see the car loosing its control over wet surface. It is not at all in shape to take sharp turns, as seen.
However, when you switch on the ESC, the car does the test like a cakewalk. It prevents the wheel-spin of tyres because of the technology. So, in this case, the system automatically applies brakes to the tires that it feels is losing control.

Most of the cars around Rs 10 Lakhs come with ESC and TCS as a feature on the top-spec variants. Now, every car comes with safety features such as ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, speed alert system, speed sensing auto door lock and front passenger seat belt reminder.
