Honda Is Coming Up With A Replacement for the Aviator in BS6 Era!

Honda has not yet listed the Aviator on their website which leads us to believe that the scooter will be replaced by a brand new product in the BS6 era.

Honda has been updating their two-wheeler portfolio for the last couple of weeks after the BS6 emission norms became effective. Interestingly, Honda has not listed many popular two-wheelers on their website which leaves us unsure if these motorcycles and scooters will be updated to BS6 norms. That even includes the likes of the CB Hornet 160R and the XBlade and even the Aviator among one of its scooters. Now, we have come to know that Honda will be replacing the Aviator with a brand new model in the BS6 era.

Honda has not listed the Aviator on their website yet which leads us to believe that the 110cc scooter will be discontinued in the BS6 era. Currently, Honda only has the Activa, the Activa 125 and the Dio in their scooter lineup that has been updated to meet the BS6 norms. The Aviator shared the same engine with the Activa but was positioned above the latter and has been around for quite a few years now.

Honda pitched the Aviator above the Activa on grounds on better equipment and hardware like alloy wheels, telescopic fork and a front disc brake. Its styling was also one of its distinguishing factors. Although the Aviator was received well initially, it always played second fiddle to the very popular Activa. With the discontinuation of the Aviator, it leaves a void in Honda’s lineup of a premium 110cc scooter.

The replacement for the Aviator will most likely be underpinned by Honda’s new scooter platform that already underpins multiple products in Honda’s lineup like the Activa 6G, the Dio and the Activa 125. We also expect the engine to be carried over from the Activa family but it could see a slight increase in power. Being a premium offering, we also expect it to offered with some upmarket features such as alloy wheels, a disc brake and, keeping up with modern times, a digital instrument cluster as well.

The price and positioning of this new scooter will be key for Honda. The Honda Activa 6G is already priced closed to the Suzuki Access 125 and it would be interesting to see if the new scooter creeps into the 125cc scooter segment in terms of pricing. Honda is also likely to use a new name for the Aviator replacement to bring in some freshness and considering the fact that the original Aviator never really took off.
