This Delhi couple did a Delhi to Ladakh Trip on a 100cc Hero Splendor, which we cannot even imagine to do. Here’s their story and experience.
We all have made plans to do a road trip to Manali or Leh Ladakh at least once in a lifetime. Lucky are those people who get to achieve that while others are still left wondering about how and when. This guy decided to achieve the travel dream of many even without a Royal Enfield or any other cruiser motorcycle.
Deepika and Pawan Shakya, a couple from Delhi did a Ladakh trip on a 100cc Hero Splendor. One outrageous thing is doing a Ladakh trip that is 1000 kms one side, on a commuter motorcycle. To top it, they did the trip with two people on the bike. Just by hearing it, the experience seems tiring but something very interesting.
The couple started their trip on a 2016 Hero Splendor from West Delhi with a fellow rider who was on RE Thunderbird 350. After travelling for nearly 13 hours, they took the first big stop at Manali. After procuring permits for Rohtang Pass, the couple started off towards Rohtang and had a night stay over there.

This Hero Splendor also had to do river crossing along with another TVS Jupiter. Finally, after many hurdles, the couple reached Leh on Day 5. The temperature was towards the chilling point every night and despite all that, the Splendor survived. After a couple of days in Leh and Ladakh, the couple headed out towards Kashmir for spending some time in Srinagar.
The total trip was of 14 days out of which, they left for Jalandhar on Day 13 from Ramban. After a night stay in Jalandhar, the couple started off at 9 AM and reached Delhi by sunset. We can never even think of doing a 14-day trip on a bike like Splendor. For more details about the experience, you can head out to this link.
The guy wanted to show that for making a bike trip, you don’t always need a big bike. And he proved it by taking the most adventurous and one of the most difficult trips in India. Now we are stuck up at our homes due to the nationwide lockdown. After reading this story, many of them are sure to have all the travelling blues.
