Honda WRV – 25.5 kmpl
WRV offers the best in class mileage among its rivals. Honda claims that the compact SUV/crossover will offer 25.5 kmpl. The WRV has been temporarily discontinued due to the BS6 norms and in a week or two, will be back in market. It will continue with its 1.5 Litre diesel engine that produces 99 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque. There’s only a 6-speed MT on offer.

Hyundai Venue – 23.3 kmpl
Hyundai Venue gets a new 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 100 BHP and 240 Nm of peak torque. The engine is borrowed from Kia Seltos but is detuned for better fuel efficiency. The engine offers a claimed mileage of 23.3 kmpl. Even Venue comes only with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Tata Nexon – 22.3 kmpl
Nexon offers a claimed mileage of 22.3 kmpl with its 1.5 Litre diesel engine that produces 110 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is among the very few cars under the budget of Rs 15 Lakhs that comes with manual and AMT options for both the engine.

Ford EcoSport – 21.7 kmpl
EcoSport continues with its 1.5 Litre diesel engine, that is among the most underpowered in the class. The motor produces 100 BHP and 215 Nm of peak torque, which is comparatively lower than Nexon, Venue and XUV300. EcoSport offers a decent mileage figure of 21.7 kmpl, as claimed by the company. The SUV comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Mahindra XUV300 – 20 kmpl
XUV300 offers the least mileage figures in its class but is the torquiest of all. The engine produces 115 BHP and 300 Nm of peak torque. Interestingly, it offers a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AMT for the diesel engine but only the MT for petrol. The engine offers a claimed mileage of 20 kmpl, as claimed.
