Nissan has just revealed the BS6 Kicks price but the bigger news is the launch of the new 1.3L turbo-petrol engine in both manual and automatic forms, prices of which starts from Rs 11.85 lakh.
Nissan has just revealed the detailed price list of the 2020 BS6 Kicks. The BS6 Nissan Kicks now starts from Rs 9.50 lakh for the 1.5L, naturally aspirated petrol engine but the bigger news is the new 1.3L turbo-petrol engine. The BS6 Nissan Kicks Turbo-petrol has a starting price of Rs 11.85 lakh and its available with both manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. Prices for the top-end turbo-petrol CVT automatic variant of the BS6 Kicks goes up to Rs 14.15 lakh, all prices, ex-showroom. Here’s a detailed price list of the 2020 BS6 Nissan Kicks.

The BS6 Nissan Kicks is thus available with two engine options – a 106hp, naturally aspirated, 1.5L petrol engine with 142Nm of torque and the new 156hp, 1.3L turbo-petrol engine. This engine produces 254Nm of peak torque. Incidentally, this new turbo-petrol engine is the same engine that was showcased on the Renault Duster turbo-petrol at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Duster turbo-petrol is also due its launch and we expect to happen soon after the lockdown. Coming back to the Kicks, it will thus be available with three powertrain options in total – the 1.5 petrol-MT, 1.3 turbo-petrol-MT and 1.3 turbo-petrol-CVT.
This CVT gearbox option is a new gearbox on offer and it has eight simulated ratios in the manual mode, thus making an 8-step CVT. Nissan hasn’t revealed the ARAI-rated mileage of the turbo-petrol engine with the CVT gearbox. But they have revealed the mileage figure for the 1.5 petrol-manual and 1.3 turbo-petrol-manual are they stand at 14.1kpl and 16.3kpl, respectively. Nissan will offer the BS6 Kicks in four trim levels – XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O) variants.

The powertrain options also vary on the BS6 Kicks depending on the trim you choose. The 1.5L petrol engine is only available on the entry-level XL and the mid-spec XV trims. The 1.3L turbo-petrol engine with both its manual and automatic gearbox will be available on the XV and XV Premium variants but the top-spec XV Premium (O) variant can be had only with the turbo-petrol manual powertrain option. The BS6 Nissan Kicks is available in a total of six exterior color options – Blade Silver, Bronze Grey, Night Shade, Pearl White, Fire Red, and Deep Blue Pearl. The range-topping Kicks XV Premium (O) variant will also get three dual-tone colour options – Bronze Grey with Amber Orange, Pearl White with Onyx Black, and Fire Red with Onyx Black.

With the BS6 update, Nissan has now discontinued the diesel engine on the Kicks. However, the new 1.3L turbo-petrol engine in the Kicks is now the most powerful SUV under 15 Lakhs. Even Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta come with a 1.4L turbo-petrol engine, but Kicks produces nearly 13bhp more. Kicks is even more powerful than MG Hector which produces 143bhp. It is only the Jeep Compass that offers similar power figures with its 1.4 Litre turbo-petrol unit. Being the most powerful and torquiest of its lot is certainly bound to help increase the sales of Kicks. Especially, with the loss of its diesel engine, Nissan needs to gather more buyers for petrol.
