Hyundai MPV (Ertiga Rival) Makes Its First Spy Shot Debut!

Hyundai has been working on a seven-seater MPV (Maruti Suzuki Ertiga) for some time and now, the car has made its first spy shots debut being tested in South Korea.

We have already reported to you that Hyundai is working on a rival for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the first spy shot of the same on test has now surfaced on the internet. The MPV market in India has gradually been evolving the years. Once, it was only the Toyota Innova that dominated the segment but now the likes of the Ertiga, XL6 and even the Kia Carnival have grown extremely popular.

It was thus only a matter of time before India’s second most successful mass manufacturer of cars jumps in to have a share of the pie. This is the first time that a spy shot of this Hyundai MPV has surfaced on the internet. The car was caught testing on the streets of South Korea. The dimensions of this car seems pretty similar to that of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and this too is expected to come with a seven-seater layout.

Hyundai’s latest design language has evolved into quite a flamboyant style and so you can expect this new MPV to look way more funky and contemporary than the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Ertiga itself is quite a well designed car but its approach to design is still quite reserved and simple. In contrast, you can expect the Hyundai MPV to look quite more swanky with a large cascading grille up front and two-tier headlamp setup.

Although the test mule was caught wearing heavy camouflage, you can still make out that the MPV will have pretty curvaceous styling. It could feature a sharply rising belt line and the rear end of the MPV seems to have vertically stacked LED tail lamps. There’s also a shark fin antenna on the roof. Technical and interior details about this MPV is still quite scarce. The new Hyundai MPV is expected to debut in 2021 for the Indonesian market first. The Ertiga is also on sale in Indonesia and the Hyundai MPV will directly compete against it.

The new model is then expected to be launched in other South Asian markets before making its way to India. By the time it reaches India, we also expect a mid-life facelift for the Maruti Ertiga. But before this seven-seater MPV makes it to India, Hyundai is also expected to launch a seven-seater version of the Creta in India. We will soon be spoilt for options with seven-seater people’s mover in India and that’s certainly a great thing.
