A leaked brochure from Japan reveals that the Swift is soon up for a facelift and Maruti Suzuki could eventually bring it to India as well. There are lots of updates speculated from the Swift facelift.
The forth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift has already been on our roads for four-years now and it is just about the right time for a mid-life facelift. And incidentally, a leaked brochure of the Swift from Japan shows us exactly what we could expect from the Maruti Suzuki facelift in India. Although from Japan, the leaked brochure also reveals the color options that could be on offer on the new Swift.
The changes are not so evident right in first glance but the keen eyed amongst you will notice the new honeycomb mesh grille with a chrome strip running in between. The bumper also features some mild alterations but the rest of the face looks pretty much unchanged including the headlights. In profile, the hatchbacks seems to have gained new alloy wheels and there’s a new side skirt as well. There are no images revealing the rear portion of the car and while we cannot speak of specific changes, you can expect a slightly revised tail lamp and bumper.
There are also no images of the interiors of the Swift facelift. However, its safe to expect a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Maruti Suzuki’s latest SmartPlay infotainment system. There could some updates to interior trim and upholstery as well and you can also expect connected-car technology to be part of the mix. The brochure also reveals the color options that would be available on the new Swift, two of them being new – Gold and Orange.

Currently in India, the Swift is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2L K12B petrol engine that produces 83hp and 113Nm of torque. The gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. There are speculations that the Swift facelift could get the 1.2L DualJet petrol motor from the Baleno that produces 90hp and 113Nm of torque. Does that mean that it could also be offered with Maruti Suzuki’s mild hybrid technology?

The brochure says ‘hybrid’ on the top and so this speculation shouldn’t be entirely off the cards. Even at the 2020 Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki had showcased a Swift hybrid which featured a 1.2L petrol engine along with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The Swift Hybrid produces 105hp of power and 148Nm of torque. It remains to be seen if Maruti brings this version to India. The current version of the Swift retails from Rs 5.19 lakh to Rs 8.02 lakh in India. The facelifted model will be unveiled globally soon and eventually, it could make it to India.
