Mercedes-AMG Launches C 63 Coupe and updated GT-R in India!

Mercedes-AMG has launched the C63 Coupe and the updated GT R in India for a price of Rs 1.33 crore and Rs 2.48 crore respectively. Both come powered by a 4.0L BiTurbo thumping V8 engine from AMG.

After remaining dormant for about two months, the automobile industry is now seeing a slew of high profile car launches. The first among them was the 2020 Jaguar F-Type followed by the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and the M8. The latest to join this fleet of super expensive cars are the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe and the new GT R. Mercedes launched the C 63 AMG Coupe and the GT R in India today for a price of Rs Rs 1.33 crore and Rs 2.48 crore, respectively. The Mercedes-AMG C 63 is the range-topping vehicle of the C-Class range while the GT-R is the range-topping car of the GT-Line. Both cars have ludicrous performance and thumping V8 engines under the hood.

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe is powered by a 4.0L biturbo V8 engine that produces 476hp and 650Nm of torque. The numbers are more in sportscar territory than of a luxurious coupe. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed torque converter gearbox with the power being sent to the rear wheels only. Mercedes claims the 0-100 kph time comes up in just 4 seconds and the top-speed is electronically limited to 250kph. The C 63 does not have a direct rival in India till BMW launches the next-gen M3 in India. However, at this price point, you could compare it to the recently launched Jaguar F-Type as well.

Mercedes also launched the 2020 AMG GT R with some updates for a price of Rs 2.48 crores.

Although its based on the humble C-Class, the C 63 AMG sure looks like it means business. The Panamericana grille up front immediately announces that its an AMG and the sporty AMG-spec bumpers further accentuate the aggressive nature of the car. When viewed in side profile, you immediately know about its intention. The sloping coupe-like silhouette looks gorgeous and the muscular hips ooze plenty of character. The quad-exhaust pipes on the sporty bumpers with a carbon-fiber lip spoiler on the boot complete the looks at the rear.

The layout on the inside is again similar to that of the standard C-Class but then it gets plenty of AMG touches. There’s a 12.3-inch digital screen for the instrument cluster along with a touchscreen infotainment system. Although there are seats for four, space on the rear seats are slightly on the tighter side. The C 63 also gets AMG-spec drive and traction modes and AMG Ride Control which allows the driver to change the suspension setup. It also gets additional features such as a panoramic sunroof, active park assist, ventilated AMG sport seats with a memory function and a Burmester sound system as standard as well.

The 0-100 kph time comes up in just 3.6 seconds and the top-speed is limited to 318kph. The GT R also gets an active aerodynamics package which gives the car greater stability at high speeds. At Rs 2.48 crore, the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R is however Rs 25 lakh more expensive than the 2017 model. Mercedes-Benz is also offering its Star Ease Compact Package on both the models.
